Thapar University also knew as Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) Patiala, was established in 1956 in the city of Patiala, in south-eastern Punjab, northern India. It is 70km from Chandigarh airport.
It has grown rapidly since its conception and is now known as one of the best private engineering establishments in India. TIET is planning to set up two new campuses over the coming years: one near Chandigarh and one in Chhattisgarh for management and engineering courses.
TIET Students can choose programmes from the L.M. Thapar School of Management (LMTSOM), the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School of Mathematics, the School of Physics and Materials Science (SPMS) and the School of Energy and Environment. The campus covers 250 hectares and facilities for students include a library, an athletics track, gymnasium and badminton hall and a swimming pool complex. It is compulsory for all TIET dents to register for sports activities each and every semester. In 2014, TIET signed an institutional partnership with Trinity College, Dublin to foster academic collaboration in ug programs and research projects. This is just one aspect of TIET ’s efforts to contemporize and strengthen their global engagement.
The university city of Patiala has a population of about 400,000 and one of the highest number of vehicles per capita in India. The city dates back to 1763, when Baba Ala Singh, a Jat Sikh chieftain, constructed the Qila Mubarak, an 18th Century fort around which the city is now built.
Thapar University has conducted the round 1 of TIET B.Tech counseling 2019 on May 28, 2019. The first cutoff list of Thapar university has also been released for Aspirants. The authorities have also offered Aspirants with an option to withdraw the seat, if not satisfied. For that, they will have to fill a withdrawal form. Earlier the last date was April 29, 2019. However, it was advisable for Aspirants to first check the eligibility criteria of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology and then proceed further for admission. The admission to B.Tech/ B.E programmes 2019 at Thapar University will be based on JEE Main 2019 scores of the Aspirants. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology will not conduct any separate entrance exam for admission to its B.Tech programmes. It is to be noted that apart from JEE Main 2019 scores consideration, there are some other parameters that will be considered too for eligibility like age limit, subjects and percentage in the qualifying exam of class 10+2 or any equivalent exam etc.
