The University of Gour Banga is a university established in 2008 and located in English Bazar, West Bengal, India. There are almost 28 colleges in Maldah, UttarDinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur is affiliated with this university.GourBanga University is considered as one of the reputed universities in India. The University has a well-developed campus with latest infrastructural for the students so that they can perform best in their future life. It is also known for the method of creative learning that is provided to the students so that they can enjoy the study. The University has a huge central library with large number of books of every category and of all the authors. Academic programs in the university are Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Life Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Engineering and Technology. SurabhiBandyopadhyay, the former Vice-Chancellor of NetajiSubhas Open University, became the first Vice Chancellor of the University, while the former Registrar of University of North Bengal, Tapash Kumar Chattopadhyay, became the first acting registrar, all in 2008. GopaDutta was the 2nd Vice Chancellor. The current Vice Chancellor is AchintyaBiswas, who was the Head of the Department of Bengali of Jadavpur University.Dr. BikashMukhopadhyay of Burdwan University is current Registrar. The logo of the University of GourBanga was prepared in the second week of June 2008 by Sameer Rakshit, the Head of the Department of Architecture, Jadavpur University.Rakshit is also in charge of designing the main building of the University of GourBanga, which is currently functioning from the ground-floor of the Post-Graduate Section of Malda College.

The University of Gour Banga, a progressive university which constitutes for the future of its students and research scholars and their welfare by offering benefits and services to them, invites candidates for admission in the M.Phil. & Ph.D. programmes 2019. As per the courses offered by UGB Research department, candidates can opt for a specific course from a variety of specializations available. Students interested in the Ph.D. course can apply for any of the 16 departments including Arabic, Botany, Mathematics, Chemistry etc.
University invites candidates for admission in Post Graduate (PG) courses for the session 2018-18 under the CET UGB Main Campus & other colleges. UGB offers time to time reservations and scholarships for meritorious students.Under the provisions of the university panel, 60% of the total seats are reserved for the students of the UGB itself, the rest 40% for other candidates. Further to university focuses on special innovations for the welfare of the staff and students in the campus and other colleges.
