Maharshi Dayanand University, established as Rohtak University, Rohtak, came into existence by an Act No. 25 of 1975 of the Haryana Legislative Assembly in 1976 with the objective to promote inter-disciplinary higher education and research in the fields of environmental, ecological and life sciences. It was rechristened as Maharshi Dayanand University in 1977 after the name of a great visionary and social reformer, Maharshi Dayanand. The University is located at Rohtak in the state of Haryana - Rohtak is the education hub of the State with excellent facilities for education in all fields of knowledge. The University Centre for Competitive Examinations, ever since its establishment in 1989, has been continuously striving to guide the students in electing their careers. The Centre arranges coaching classes for the students aspiring to compete for various competitive examinations such as Indian Civil Services (Preliminary), Haryana Civil Services, Bank Probationary Officers, Inspectors of Income Tax and Central Excise, National Eligibility Test/ State Lecturers Eligibility Test, Combined Defence Services, National Defence Academy, CEET/ Engineering etc.
The university offers a plethora of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs. It also provides distance education. MDU Rohtak Admissions are based on the marks secured by the applicants in their qualifying examinations or on the basis of entrance exams conducted by the university (MDUCEE) as well as on the basis of the entrance exams like GATE and GPAT. MDU conducts Common Entrance Exam (MDUCEE) for admission to courses of M.Sc and M.Pharm. Candidates need to register for centralized online counseling and confirm their seats after paying the requisite fees.
Admission to B.Tech is done on the basis of HSTES counseling as well as a valid score in JEE Main. Admission to B.Pharm is based on the entrance exam conducted by the university. M.Tech admission is based on the valid score in GATE. Admission to B.P.Ed is done on the basis of qualification in Physical Efficiency Test (PET) conducted by the university. Admission to other degree programs like BTTM, BHM, MA, M.Li.Sc., M.Com, MHM, MTTM and integrated courses are done through either academic merit or entrance conducted by the university. M.Phil admission is done on the basis of performance in M.Phil Entrance Test conducted by MDU.

Prospectus containing details can be downloaded from the official website and the same can be purchased upon cash payment of INR 150 from the Sale Counter of Publication Cell, Near Gate No.1 of the University. Candidates may apply online as well and submit can the application fees via debit/credit card.
Upon filling the online/downloaded application form, the duly signed copy along with necessary documents must reach the concerned Department/Office within 5 days of the last date of submission of online application form.

The university offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral programs and some of the programs are also offered through distance education. All the programs are examined below:
Undergraduate & Integrated Courses
Students seeking admission to undergraduate programs can opt for courses like B.Tech, B.Pharm., BHM & CT and BTTM. They can also apply for admissions into five years UG-PG integrated courses offered in the disciplines of Law, Mathematics, English, Economics, Public Administration, Commerce, Management and Hotel management. For admission, a candidate has to appear for the entrance test conducted by the university.
Several other PG courses are offered by the MDU which includes M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.A, M.Com, M.Ed., M.L.I.Sc, etc. For admission to these courses, the merit in qualifying examination or entrance tests is considered.
For M.Tech program, GATE Scores are considered. If GATE score candidates are not available for M.Tech, then the marks in the qualifying examinations are considered for admission to the M.Tech program.
M.Pharm and M.Sc.
MDU offers a number of M.Pharm and M.Sc programs in Life sciences, Forensic sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Admission to these programs are strictly done on the basis of MDU Common Entrance Test (MDUCEE).
Candidates possessing valid GPAT scores are exempted from appearing in MDUCEE and will be admitted on the basis of merit as per GPAT score.
M.Phil & Ph.D
At the research level, the university offers M.Phil and Ph.D. degree in a number of subject specializations. All the aspirants must appear in the entrance test conducted by the concerned department which is followed by the final selection through personal interview.
