The 50th anniversary of the Bihar School of Yoga will be commemorated in 2013, culminating with the celebration of the World Yoga Convention from 23rd to 27th October 2013 in Munger. The World Yoga Convention will commemorate the achievements of the Bihar School of Yoga, from its inception in 1963 to the present day, in the propagation of the science of yoga for the welfare and upliftment of humanity. A vision of the next stage in the evolution of spiritual awareness will be brought forth.
YOGA VISION – Satyananda Yoga/Bihar Yoga
Emerging from the Yoga Vision of Sri Swami Satyananda and his lineage, the teachings introduced here are a modern, integral rendering of ancient yoga sources. This section introduces basic practices and concepts of Satyananda Yoga.
Housing the institutions of Bihar School of Yoga, Bihar Yoga Bharati, Yoga Research Foundation and Yoga Publications Trust, Munger aims to integrate yogic education with a traditional gurukul lifestyle, providing the ideal environment for spiritual growth.
Also home to Sannyasa Peeth, the institution dedicated to the lifestyle, sadhana, teachings and culture of spirituallity and sannyasa.
Rikhia houses the institutions of Sivananda Math, Sivananda Ashram and Rikhiapeeth. Primarily a centre for seva (selfless service), Rikhia aims towards cultivating social growth and upliftment in surrounding rural areas, including education and medical care.
